GUN Shipping long guns within state

    Sounds pretty clear that it is MAIL and not just transfer.

    You can ship handguns within a state, you just can't use the USPS to do so. (since 1912 or so)

    You'd have to use UPS or FEDEX, and be prepared to pay $50 - $60 as company policy is that handguns must be sent overnight service.

    Your quote from the ATF only said it was illegal to ship handguns through the US Postal service. Justin03R6 is correct, unless the state you reside in has a law against mailing a handgun to an individual in your state, you're able to send it through Fedex or UPS.
