Make sure the receiving FFL will accept from a non-FFL and you're golden.

Some FFL's will allow individuals to send directly to them. I know of one by me that allows this. However, not very many of them do.

Send a copy of your DL and contact information for the buyer along with the gun to minimize headache for the ffl.

If you are the legal owner of the firearm you can ship directly to the customers FFL. Either you or the customer must contact the FFL and clear it with them. The FFL of course has the right to refuse.

The firearm must be shipped 2nd day or next day air and should be insured. Granted some people don't do this but I won't get into that right now. If your a FFL shipping to another FFL you may have options to ship long guns ground service but that varies by state, by shipping company, and again you have to be a FFL to ship ground.

When shipping a firearm make sure it is in a appropriate container and packed appropriately. This usally means a hard or soft case then packed into another cardboard box. The recieiving FFL usually asks you fax them a copy of your drivers licence and info (address, contact info for both you and the customer, make, model, color, and serial number of firearm). Also incude a printed copy of this with the firearm itself.

USPS won't take ANY hand gun from an individual. If you are an FFL01 you can send a hand gun via USPS to another FFL01. UPS will take long guns or hand guns from an individual, however hand guns must be shipped UPS Next Day Air. Long guns can ship UPS ground no problems.
