I didn't really find any info on shipping requirements for long guns on USPS or UPS about which service (overnight, 2-day, etc..) must be used for shipping a long gun. UPS did have requirements for handguns, but didn't list long guns.

    Anyone know? :o

No requirements on long guns. Handguns have to go overnight according to UPS/FEDEX policy. IIRC, USPS allows you to ship long guns but not handguns, unless you're a dealer.

No big deal just take it to UPS and mail it.

Cool. Still have to notify the company that you're shipping a long gun?

Which is hilarious, because long guns are arguably more 'deadly' than handguns.

You're never under any legal obligation to notify ups/fedex that you're shipping a gun if its going to a FFL. I see no reason to go "I'VE GOT A GUN IN HEREE!!!!!ONE" either.

Just want to get what I paid for it... :o

    $550 and I'll pay shipping.

Edit: It's a great and fun gun... I just don't want it. I have another .22LR rifle and don't feel the need for two. :o

Don't tell UPS that you are shipping a firearm, PERIOD. While it's not illegal, it's against their company policy in most cases. The only times they will let a non-FFL holder ship a firearm is when it's going back to an FFL for "repairs or modifications."

Ask me how I found this out the hard way and had to make a trip to three UPS stores before it got shipped. :o

They will gladly ship a 36" golf club worth $650 without any questioning. :hsugh:

Not entirely correct, but it illustrates the problem. UPS employees don't always know the UPS policy. A UPS store is part of your problem.

http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/prepare/guidelines/firearms.html spells it out pretty clearly but I fully advocate just keeping your mouth shut and not making an issue out of it to begin with :big grin:

yes, but pistols are easily concealable... which in essence makes them even more deadly, just not due to firepower.

Yeah it was more a case of employee ignorance than anything else. Still a hassle if you open your mouth.
