I have a friend in Las Vegas who wants to ship me a handgun (I am in Texas). They think they have to go through the ATF to ship it. Is this correct? Any information you guys have would be appreciated!

Yup, you take your chances. Its their policy so if you need to make an insurance claim and you broke them.... Of course if you need to make an insurance claim your gun is probably missing so its hard to prove your box of machine parts was a gun and....

Anyway he has to send it to a dealer in your area. Call around and ask dealers how much they charge for transfers. I find pawnshops are often the best.
