what can i wear to prevent the bar hitting my shins on deadlifts? besides long socks, are their any leg wraps specifically for this?

on the side, is it true if your shins arent scraping, your deadlift form sucks?

I'm not really one to make fun of someone who is actually doing deadlifts, but if I saw you deadlifting with soccer shin guards, I would giggle a lil.

This is funny, just the other day I saw a pretty big guy wearing soccer shin gaurds in the gym. My school gym has an indoor soccer field, I did not see the guy doing dead lifts so I am not exactly sure why he was wearing them. Just man up and get scars on your shins.

What's with everybody scraping their shins doing deads? I'd think you're lifting too much weight if you have to lean back so far that you actually pull the bar into your shins.

    :dunno:

I've never touched my shins, even on max attempts.

lifting too much weight? never. but i think its more of an issue of getting too close to the bar (which is great on deads as you want your hips as close as possible).

generally when you see white powder on pl legs , it isn't chalk, that would increase friction of the bar against the shin. We use talk on our legs...

but is there another reason why you use chalk?

there is a reason why people say 'feel the steel' when doing deads and cleans, its just going to happen, every persons body is different, so your form is going to be different too. some people will hit theirs shins, others won't. you pretty much just have to deal with it, and please (for your own sake) don't be that guy. I saw some dude doin deads at my gym at home and people were laughing their asses off at him.

Sometimes my shins bleed and i just put some tape on them so I won't get my AIDS Virus all over the bar.

Does anybody get bruses right above you knee on deads?

talc works for smoothness but chalk really isn't gonna slow you down that badly... either way... talc would be preferred
