Ever since I started shaving, I find that for about a day or two after I shave I always get small pimples around my mouth. I shave using mach 3 and shaving gel, and apply moisturizer to my face daily. I'm 26 and I never get pimples except for in the case of when I shave, and it is majorly irritating because it prevents me from shaving every day (usually I shave around twice a week), and I really don't like the appearance of stubble on my face most of the week. Does this happen to anybody else? Any advice as to how to solve this problem?

To pre-empt replies, I'm reticent to switch to the single blade razors just because I really can't be bothered going to that much effort. but if this is the only solution suggested, I will consider it.

Cliffs: I'm 26 and have a face sensitive as a fuckin' 12 year old kid. Help me fix this problem.

badger brush, high quality shave cream, a safety razor, and shaving balm.

those are probably razor bumps. Going to a single-bladed razor will help.

If you don't want to buy everything at once, just buy a brush and disposable single-bladed razors a la Bic. See if that works.

If you have sensitive skin, a multi-blade razor is going to give your face hell. The less the better.

I have/had the same problem. I would usually get them on my cheeks, and a little around the mouth. I recently purchased a safety razor, and I am already noticing better results.

Although, you don't necessarily need to get one. Maybe a 2 blade razor will help. I went that route before picking up a safety razor, but I was still getting breakouts. They weren't as bad as before when I was using a 3 or 4 bladed razor, but I still was not satisfied.

    Hope this helps.

  9. I get those sometimes on my upper lip because I kind of just ignore that area when I shave and do it really quick. I just try to use a little shave gel, do as few strokes as possible and then rinse everything off well, then wash my face with an acne face wash and then put on whatever spot-treatment creme I want. I usually have flawless skin (no pimples) so I guess it works for me.

try going at it in an upward angle or from the sides

probably a lot less irritation than up strokes

To avoid the bumps after shaving follow this for facial application:

    - Warm, warm water to soften the skin up.
    - Shaving Cream (Just don't get absolute cheap stuff)
    - After Shaving Splash your face with really cold water
    - Follow with an alcohol astringent
    - Let face dry for a minute and then apply moisturizer

Worked fine for me to cure any bumps on the neck but then again I only need to use a 2 blade daily.

ever try an electric razor? It works for me, since I simply can't use a multi-blade razor, and I don't have the patience to learn how to properly use a straight razor.

If you use it daily you don't get a perfectly smooth shave, but damn close, and it leaves no pain or shaving bumps. Quickest/easiest way to get a good shave if you have thick facial hair

By far the best way to go with shaving. Plus the blades are pennies a pop compared to several bills for a few cartridges. I use a Merkur HD with Derby blades. My skin has gotten better and better since I switched to a safety razor.

but why would you want to shave against the grain anyway? i mean i know you get an even closer shave...but why bother if you use the proper products to maximize the shave anyway like steam, face scrub, etc.
