I went to see it as an x-tra credit for my film class with no expectations & having read so many bad reviews(many from OT) and not being a zombie film fan as well. Yet I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!!!!
It had me cracking up most of the time, it was very clever and the serious moments kicked ass!!!
I loved Shaun b/c he reminds me of myself, a male version of me and the movie was just so badass. I might see it again, I don't understand all the hate for it.

p.s. so a satellite crashing created all the chaos? :noes: :noes: and I like the Army of Darkness reference. so kickass!

The humour is too English for some, but I grew up on Monty Python & Benny Hill so I loved it.

I just got the DVD, Amazon had a special, bought it and the new Dawn of the Dead, only $20

I've got this sitting in my living room right now from netflix just waiting to be watched, but I haven't had the chance to get around to it yet.

It isn't bad I guess, some of the humor was a little too dry for some non-Brits

Pick up the television series called "Spaced", its where Shaun is from. You will get a lot more in-jokes ;)

What I truly loved about it was the realistic zombies. The slow aciton, thought process, and realisitc makeup. The makeup was great and showed that they really cared.

I liked it. "He's not my dad! He's my stepfather!"

The satellite crash was a reference to Night of the Living Dead. So was "We're coming to get you, Barbara!"

And the store Shaun worked in - Foree Electronics - was a reference to Dawn of the Dead (Ken Foree played Peter, the SWAT guy in the original movie).

What was the Army of Darkness ref?

I don't know if the name ash was a big enough ref. . .
But hey, Army of Darkness was good too. The part I loved most about Shaun of the Dead is how he went over all the different survival plans and they all involved killing his stepfather.

Also, don't worry if you hadn't seen Dawn of the Dead (the new one) yet. And when you do, turn off the lights, turn up (or rent) some surround sound), curl up with a loved one or stuffed animal and prepare to get scared hairless.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Dawn of the Dead was not that scary. Actually I was laughing through most of it.

I looked it up on IMDB trivia, and found this:

I guess I have to watch Army of Darkness again. I remember the scene, but it doesn't remind me of Bruce Campbell. :dunno:

The witch in the end is shot with his repeating boom stick, and she winds up bounding off a trampoline. He doesn't.

i LOVED when he goes over the plans and they all involve killing Phillip. I know the whole sequence by heart... it's pretty funny.

    Here's the plan:
we go to mom's house, kill phillip, sorry philip, go to liz's, go to the winchester and wait for the whole thing to brawl over. *picks up beer & smiles*

That's pretty cool. But I can't remember...was Ken the white guy or the black guy in Dawn of the Dead? I see that both of the SWAT guys is in the Dawn of the Dead remake.
