I don't see why not....you can put program files on any disk...

Is XP home any different? Don't think so.

huh? im not trying to move my program files to a different drive.... i just want to share my program files directory with my local network..

when i goto sharing on the program files directory, it has the check box's shaded out.. thus it wont let me enable sharing of the directory.. im asking if theres a setting hidden somewhere that gives me complete control of my file sharing access.

Yes, but cant you move the program(s) to a file folder that is shared?

Dunno why it would be grayed out.....check the security settings.

    1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

    2. Click Security Center, and then click Windows Firewall.

    3. On the Exceptions tab, under Programs and Services, check the box next to File and Printer Sharing, and then click OK.

Not sure if this is his reason, but we do it at work so that we can backup everyone's email to a DVD burner in one machine. The emails are all stored in the Eudora folder under Program Files (what a terrible system), so we just share the Program Files and then setup a scheduled backup on the machine with the DVD burner.

As opposed to sharing the Eudora folder?

    PS Thunderbird > Eudora

Security isn't an issue, so either would work for us, whoever set it up just decided to share the whole program files :dunno:

Not my decision which client we use, and it's more work than it's worth to teach construction workers how to use something new :embd:

you need to disable simple file sharing. go to the tools tab in your explorer window -> folder options -> view -> uncheck "use simple file sharing"
