Typically I'm sitting around with a notepad and pencil writing down and sketching out ideas. I can't spitball ideas with any of my friends or coworkers. I'm going to try collaborating and get some feedback here. This is just to get some creative juices flowing not for a particular project I'm working on. With all of you using Facebook and most likely twitter, what sort of Web based applications or "social networking" sites such as Twitter/Facebook do you think could be next, possibly you've had some ideas and think if they were created they would be embraced such as the above mentioned sites and really take off. I'm not running around like everyone else asking "how can I make a clone of these popular sites", instead I'm building off the ideas, technologies and general social acceptance to help get some ideas (as well as the pencil) moving on some things I might want to do in the future.

The next big Thing will probably be a mobile application. It will probably stream EVERYTHING relevant from your computer to your mobile phone. Not just emails, but a stream of your banking info, credit cards, every message board discussion you're in, relevant news stories, stock market...all the data you check on your computer. It will be fast, and updated every 60 seconds.

    Just a guess.

MySpace's user base all but disappeared, soon Facebook's will also.

Facebook is becoming more and more of a novelty and I think people are going to begin looking elsewhere.

Twitter is good, but it's boring. They've also failed to do anything significant with real-time data.

The next big thing will be an all-in-one social networking site with the proper use and monetization of real-time data. The real-time data will be much more versatile and be able to be used across a wide platform of integrated features.

    Just a thought.

I agree with a lot of this. I think people are getting way to used to quick and easy content management and micro blogging. I don't like to think of "add-on's" to facebook and twitter or "ways" to do them better. Myself, I'm trying to be totally innovative and really think of something new that like minded invividuals should be discussing.

Facebook is growing, and will continue to until the next big social network comes. And it won't be twitter.

I was just fucking with him.

I was saying that the original Facebook user base from the early years is getting fed up with all the noobs and all the bullshit applications and quizes that have taken it over. It's starting to become the clusterfuck that MySpace is.

Which is driving away the younger user base.
