Shane Carwin: "I was definitely a bully hater and really didn't like bullies."

"Lesnar's a talented athlete, very gifted and I said he would excel in the UFC. I know some of his antics have been questioned and been questioned by me. It's not who we are as MMA fighters and I felt that it was appropriate for some of the other MMA fighters to speak up. That is definitely not the perception I want people to see me as. Not to take anything away from Brock... he's a great wrestler. My passion right now is the boxing and being on the feet. I like to throw bombs and get into those exchanges. On the ground... we'll see. It's going to be an interesting fight. I know it's going to be an exciting fight and I don't expect it to go five rounds. We'll take it anywhere it goes and that's what all mixed martial artists work for... to be comfortable in all areas of their game. When it comes to jui-jitsu, I'm working with Easton's Brazilian Jui-Jitsu and spend a lot of my time on my back in practice. So that's obviously going to be in the arsenal. At the end of this bout... hopefully I'll be toasting the fans with a bud light [smiles]."

-Shane Carwin talks with sportsnet.ca about his upcoming title shot against current heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. Carwin is 11-0 in his professional MMA career and has never been taken out of the first round. In fact, Carwin's longest bout was just 2:11 against Carlton Jones at WEC 17. \
He made his UFC debut on the under-card of UFC 84 against Christian Wellisch. Carwin won the fight by KO in 44 seconds of the first round, knocking Wellisch's mouth-guard across the octagon. He then followed up with an appearance in Birmingham, England at UFC 89 winning by TKO in 1:31 of the first round against Neil Wain. His most notable victory comes against Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 96 Jackson vs. Jardine.

UFC 106 is set to take place November 21, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. 106 also features the return of Tito Ortiz and Karo Parisyan.

Poor Shane. He already sealed his fate when he pulled the "This isn't the WWE" card.

All these guys hate Lesnar for talking shit, but they're the ones who started it.

Carwin is a nice guy, If he can sprawl and brawl I think he can beat brock.

Honestly I didn't see an amazing standup game from Carwin when he fought Gonzaga, who was by far the most legitimate challenge he's faced. I think if he wants to beat Lesnar he should stand but be smart, clinch and brawl, and sprawl and move laterally. Just going in there trying to throw bombs won't end well for Shane.

Oh I know, I'm just saying it might give Brock room to shoot and get on top. I don't see him utilizing throws from up close, and I'm hoping that Carwin is capable of stuffing a single or double. Then again Lesnar could probably just muscle those takedowns on anyone..

I liked carwin a lot more when he wasn't running his mouth and was more humble. Think about it, d-bag lesnar hasn't said a peep and at least once a week we hear carwin saying something.

    Still like him though...

Probably not but if we've learned one thing from GSP it's that wrestling in MMA is a completely different animal

That is what I was referring to. Brocks wrestling that we have seen thus far has been superb.
