I've read these forums for a time and since I lack many gay friends I decided to post this question here. I'm 26, and somewhat overweight, not Ruben overweight, but definately curvy. I can't say that I am an unhappy person, but I do notice that I do stay single 98.9% of the time. So is it shallow to lose weight to attract men? I have no problem attracting women..they love my personality apparently  Up to now I've been content to just call most gay men shallow, but lately I've realized that is probably a pretty unfair generalization. What to do?

:wavey: Welcome to the Closet, it's nice to meet a lurker :mamoru:
I think most motivations for making yourself healthier are good ones. I would caution that losing weight will not get you a boyfriend. It's a lot more complicated then that (location, availibility, etc.). But I know that getting in better shape will make you feel better about yourself and people will notice that.

Get a buddy (guy/girl) to start going to the gym with you. CoCo and I used to go together, and Taylor and I go now every other day. Having a friend go with you helps keep you going. (Also, you can help spot the gym hotties; HAY Camo! HAY SLY! :hay: )

    I don't think I'm shallow:dunno:
The test in Out said I wasn't :mamoru:

...OMG, and then they can laugh with/at you when something wild and crazy happens. Case in point, there is this one leg machine that just HAD to be designed by Todd Oldham or some other gay male... When you get into it, I swear you're in gay missionary position :mamoru:. Let's just say that CoCo + said machine = a CoCo Moment that Ferron will never forget...unless he repressed it, as was the case with a lot of my moments in college. ;)

Or, as is the case with Ferron & Taylor, when foreign exchange students attempt to use a treadmill and get literally thrown off of the machine in animated slapstick ways, you have someone to point and laugh with.

If you're gonna lose weight, do it for yourself. Do it because you want to take pride in having a healthy body and the way you look. Like Ferron said, it won't guarantee you'll get a boyfriend. It might help, but I don't think anyone would want to be with a person who's just with them because they have a nice bod.

(Sigh.) Every woman needs a gay man in her life.....

what is it about gay men that turn women on so much? I've noticed that gay cum always tastes better than straight cum. Does anyone agree?

I'd guess it's probably the same reason they like men who are assholes. They want what they can't have.

Sure, a guy with a tight body is highly desireable. But I have seen plenty of overweght guys that were incredibly attractive because of their faces and/or personalities and the way that they presented themselves. I mean "holy shit!" on the hotness scale.

i honestly dont know any thin/attractive gay men who are attracted to overweight men. The only guys i know who like overweight men, are overweight themselves. Its sad, but i dont think many overweight gay men are happy.

I know a couple of large gay men. And they seem happy.

:noes: Oh, no, they are gonna ruin the system.

I agree. I'm completely fine with average. Although it'd be nice to have a workout buddy :hs:.

I've always wondered what SF gyms were like. I'm pretty sure the image I've built up in my head is a gross misconception :noes:

    I'm "curvy" too... :wavey:

I've had no problem getting guys, mostly becuase of my personality, I guess... and my self-confidence I suppose.

It's all about how comfortable you are in your own skin. You'll attract the right person.
