I'm on christophers' routine and it's been working really well so far. I've been upping my squat by 5-10lb every week (i'm not exactly at my 5RM yet). Today i did 195lb x 5 reps.

After my set the biggest guy in the gym came up to me (I noticed him watching me during the set). He said my legs were shaking a lot. He mentioned something about my muscles (quads?) not working as much as they could when my legs shake. He said to point my toes out more (as opposed to straight ahead), and get more into the workout.

I was wondering what affect having shaky legs will have on my squats? how can i prevent them? any other tips?

Sounds like you should talk to the big guy at the gym since he is the one who was watching you.

I don't doubt it. I only started doing squats a few weeks ago.

i get the same shaking as you. its on my left leg when im doing my last set which is the heaviest. its like my left leg is moving in circular motion or struggling to move on up.

talk to that guy more and ask him for more advice if possible. i would really like to know as well:wavey:

my left leg still does that sometimes too, but not as much as it did when i first started squating. Does anyone now how this affects our joints?

And for me, a lil wider stance and toes pointed more outward helped the shakiness.

I think it's just because your muscles are being worked hard.

I had the problem months ago (even made a thread on it), I widened my stance slightly and pointed my toes out more ( \ / instead of || ) and saw a big improvement.
