My girlfriend and I had sex right after her period and the condom broke. She's on birth control and has been for 10 months. I always heard that right after the period is the best time to have sex without a condom, even though that's not what we were aiming for it happened anyway.

    Should we have any concern?

I wouldn't worry about. Assuming she is taking her b/c properly there is a very minimal chance she will be knocked up. Put it out of your mind and have her get a pregnancy test if her next period is late. (If she stresses out about it, it will cause her to be late... so the most important thing to do right now is to keep her from sweatin' it too much.)

No. If she's on the pill correctly, you have nothing to worry about, as it prevents pregnancy at 99.9%.

My gf and I have unprotected sex after her period for 4-5 days. Women ovulate about 15 days after, so unless someone has supersperm, they can't get pregnant. Unless she's not constant of course.

If she's on the pill, why use the condom? Do y'all sleep around?

We used a condom just as an extra level of precaution

:ugh2: Someone needs to see the failure rate for the pill. BTW, please don't give advice if you don't know what you're talking about.

My wife got pregnant on the pill & miscarried because of it. She seems to get pregnant only in December.... namely between the 13-17 (my Bday is the 15th..). Happened all 3 times.

But yeah... pill no likey. It works for some, if she's been on it for how long you said, shouldn't be any issues.

    Have some common sense people.
If you are having sex, there is a chance she will get pregnant. Plain and simple.
Birth control will reduce that risk, but the risk is still there.
If you have sex without BC, then be prepared for her to get pregnant.
It doesn't matter where she is at in her cycle, she can get pregnant.
A woman's cycle can change at any day, especially if she is sexually active; so you never know exactly what your chances are.
The chances are different depending on where she is at in the cycle, but they are all a much higher risk than if you use BC.

WORRYING ABOUT IT AFTERWARD IS NOT A FORM OF BIRTH CONTROL.

Read the stickies people. This is all answered in there.

The thing to remember is they rate it in number of pregancies per 100 woman per year. People tend to have sex more than once a year.

Say 100 women, having sex once a week on average.
Thats 5200 episodes with 1-2 resulting in pregnancy.
Based on 2 pregnancies thats a 0.038% chance that any one episode will result in pregnancy, which inversely means you have a 99.96% of being safe.

Thats all based on the random assumption than women on the pill have unprotected sex once a week. I dont have any figures to back up that average, but I imagine that is being conservative.

Then you have to question how many of those failures were due to other factors e.g. antibiotics, vomiting, not taking the pill reguarly.

Really, all in all, if she was taking in properly he is more than safe. The fact it was immediately post-period also suggests he hasnt got much to worry about either.

Information regarding effectiveness of BC, chances of getting pregnant before during and after your period and what to do if a condom breaks can be found all over the internet as well as the sticky in this forum. This info is there to help you come to your own logical conclusion. You should not look towards others to 'convince' you of what is fact or likely. Help yourself first. When in doubt, take a test. As stated previously, worrying about it now will help no one, neither will procrastination.

    Closing.
