The first trailer came online today and the second quote on the poster really caught my attention. "As witty as Shaun of the Dead, as scary as The Descent" that's alot to live up to. The director is Christopher Smith, who directed Creep. It's being released in UK theaters on August 25th, but there are some early screenings going around. Magnolia will be distributing it for the US next year sometime.

Plot: When a weapons multi-national Palisade Defense reward their European sales division with a team-building weekend in the mountains of Eastern Europe, comedy blends with horror as the team fight first amongst themselves, and later for survival against a group of war-crazed killers intent on revenge.

    Too cool!
Hopefully they are wrong about making the US wait. If US film companies can release a movie worldwide, why can't the Brits?

I guess I'm the only person in the world who thinks Shaun of the Dead was overrated.

Well I just watched the DVDSCR of this last night and was not very impressed at all. There were maybe 2 or 3 funny scenes and there weren't any scary scenes at all. As a comedy it's probably average, but as for the horror side it's just rather weak and predictable.

"As witty as Shaun of the Dead" - No
"As scary as The Descent" - Not even close

Yea but it's only about five seconds long.:sad2:

Here's a screen cap of that scene (NWS) : http://obscureness.com/severance/severance.jpg

Here's some torrents for the XviD version of the DVDSCR. I watched the RPT release and it does have some audio syncing issues but it wasn't really bad or anything watching it on XBMC. There's also a 1:1 copy DVD version of the screener but it has a horrible aspect ratio.

Here's a NZB for the RPT version: http://obscureness.com/severance/severance.2006.dvdscr.xvid-rpt.nzb

It's stupid to say something is 'as good as' an established, loved movie. You can't even compare a first-viewing film to one you've loved for years, so the comparison just fails.

Also, it's very hard to be as witty as shaun of the dead lol.

    That movie is awesome :ugh:

edit- Although most of the wittiness is very subtle, you don't really notice it until watching it 2-3ish times.

    :ugh:

The movie has a personality breakdown halfway through. You notice it the first time... it kinda ruins the movie.

It's okay, but I think they made a huge mistake comparing it to Shaun of the Dead. I was expecting that, and instead got a decent witty slasher film. I liked Severence, but still found myself disappointed that it wasn't what I was hoping for.
