Setting up a wireless network

    can someone without any background on setting up a network do this?
    just wondering if i should pay to have my network set up or just try to do it myself.. i have no.. nada.. none whatsoever experience in setting up a network.

    it's not difficult at all - and if you run into problems that you (with our and your friends' help) cannot solve - you can pay someone then.

    thanks..

    do you have any suggestions on what i need to hook up a brand new HP m270N media center on Win XP and an old build comp on Win 98??
    im not sure if the different OS can be an issue... the old system is not upgradable to XP :happysad:

    A wireless network is very simple to setup. Just follow the directions and you'll be set.

    If you don't know what you're doing, it can be tricky. I mean TCP/IP is second nature to most of us here, but we forget out tough it can be if you're starting from scratch. The good news is that the default configurations on most routers and Windows machines will work without any tweaking. The real trick for a noob will be setting up the security.

    and make sure you dont get an ether leak either! its hard to get it back into the net...
