After messing up my boot.ini file, I just reformatted & reinstalled XP Pro after 6 years. Wonder if I should have just bought a new quad core PC instead of fixing my old P4 2.4 GHz with 1 GB of RAM :hs:

Anyway, I was wondering if anyway remembered that site that listed the services.msc that I could disable. All I remember was the page had a black background & he went into detail about each service & if I should set it to auto, manual, or disable. Or another site will work.

if you run msconfig you can select the services tab, and there is a checkbox for hide all microsoft services; check that and whatever is left is usually unnecessary, though you may see important things like video or touchpad drivers there, and you should leave those enabled
