I was just wondering, how do you determine the size of a server? For example: 2U, 4U, etc. I have two 4U servers, but the only size similarities are the length. Is this how they determine it? Just curious.:wiggle:

thanks. but both of mine are 4U, and one is double the height. i'm looking at it as if they are both on a rack, and i am looking from the bottom of it to the top, and they are both different sizes

    then they are NOT 4U.

    1U ~ 1.75"

so if one is higher than the other, then they are not the same "U". Width is almost always 19" (although a few non-standard racks exist). Depth really doesn't matter in a 2-post setup.
