server on xp

    I want to try to run a server for the first time, and wondered if I could do it on xp pro? I have server 2003 as well, but dont really feel like installing it if I dont have to. Whats the easiest way to?

    you can do it with any O/S...what kind of server do you want to run???

    http/ftp/etc?

    http and want to run a webcam off of the computer as well, like live feed

    just get some http server software, I use apache on my xp machine, v2...www.apache.org I believe...works great, as for webcam I never done that so I cannot comment on that

    I use apache too to send files to people that I cannot connect to on AIM, and for others who want various things like: Movies, pron, etc :bigthumb:

    not hard at all...

    depends what it is you want to do with it...

    the hardest part is reading through the config file and setting up everything right but I got it in my 2nd try :cool: :cool: :cool: :cool:

    The httpd.conf can be a bit tedious at first glance, but it's set up really well. I'm running version 2.0.47, which I *think* is the latest..
