I've been playing this game for 2 hours after installing and uninstalling it and everytime I install it, I try to find some justification for it. I always try to give it an opportunity, but the gameplay always fails. There is literally nothing deep about this game. There are no multiple strategies for any class, just one.

And once you get good at it, that's it.:ugh:

It's actually an incredibly deep and balanced team shooter.

    Exactly why you're a noob.

It's the biggest comp FPS since CS. You obviously suck if you think there's one strat for each class.

Comp play revolves around 6v6 with the primary lineup of 2 soldiers, 1 demo, 2 scouts, 1 medic. There is a huge amount of strategy and variable play. You are always talking in mumble, calling shit, running different strats, and knowing when to push/fallback, have the scouts backcap, etc. All of the maps played are cp_ as well, no noob pl_ maps; although there has been one ctf map the past 2 seasons because Europe leagues have been running it, and that is ctf_turbine.

One obvious difference in strategy for a class is a pocket soldier and roaming soldier which have a major difference in roles. The pocket stays with med and either him or the med will call uber pushes and give updates on uber %. His goal is to keep the med from scouts, jumping heavy classes, and know when to get aggressive or not. The roamer helps out the scouts, is the one that will jump first, cap high points like badlands spire, and give chase when needed. He is also the one who gets aggressive in certain mid strats and will jump to divert the attention of the other team. Obviously you're not going to see the appeal of comp TF2 by playing in some noob 32 person pub for 2 hours.

All of the classes have a primary role which contributes to the team aspect, the strategy, and why this game is so much more dynamic then all of the "realistic" shooters coming out these days. Not to mention the quake style gameplay with rocket/sticky jumps, double jumping scouts, variable speed of classes, ubers, etc. which has a way higher skill ceiling and much more twitch skills then noob games like MW.

    What would it be then?

Although im not a HUGE TF2 fan, I do play it and enjoy it. As well, it is the next biggest comp FPS next to CS.

What is it then? Sorry, I must be mistaken. I play both TF2, and MW2, and I find them both competitive.

MW2 is a clusterfuck, nothing more. They proved this by not allowing ded.servers

It's not a strategy game, so why are you expecting a "deep" game? :ugh: It's a fun pick-up type first person shooter with hilarity

The biggest competitive games for money-wise would be Halo 2 and Halo 3 :hsugh:

    competitive = tournament play.

mw2= no dedicated servers = no tournament play.

I said competitive. MW2 is for console noobs and is severely dumbed down for them.

Are the two top competitive leagues, go look at what core games they have on the top bar for comp play.

CoD4 made a good run in some leagues, but ESEA is the top league right now for PC and they only support CS:S, 1.6, and TF2 now.

What would you say was bigger between CS 1.6/Source and TF2?

Sorry guys. I misunderstood the term competitive. I thought you meant like you compete in online matches and try to win and that.

right now nothing is out that can compare to tf2 in terms of strategy and simple fun. a game to have 9 different classes, in which they all have their individual role and usefulness is nearly unheard of. its a type of game where you can jump in a server and say, "ok, my team needs an engineer right now, so ill play that". you can replace engineer with medic/soldier/demo/heavy/anything.

the game is well balanced and amazingly fun. ive found that people who dont like the game, prefer mindless shooters or any kind of fps that doesnt require the least bit of thinking.

The only thing I do not like about TF2 is how they took out the grenades from all the classes.... I used to love using the special grenades demos had in QTF that would spill out a whole bunch of grenades when it would explode... The engineer had an emp grenade... Pyros had napalm grenades... Those were the good ol days...

They did it to lower unskilled spam which was one of the complaints people had with original TFC.

Whether you like it or not, TF2 and TFC are different games and are still both good in their own respects.
