FMR has it at a 9.2 and I think it's one of the lenses I rented when I first started. And it is expensive, the Tamron 17-50 is less than half and gives you really comparable images but doesn't have USM or IS. I'd say it's worth the green though, if you need a great lens with that range and don't intend on upgrading to a full frame body.

I would rather get the 24-70 f2.8L but I already have a wide angle thats why :hs:

I am afraid that with my XTi that with the crop factor I would lose my wide angle. I really dont think I will be getting a full frame anytime soon. And if so, I can always sell this lens.

    Its

but IS at the focal length isn't huge, and the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 is almost as good optically, for a whole lot less.

i've read too many horror stories about the 17-55 having tons of dust issues..

I am really liking my current wide / mid-range combo of the 10-22 + 24-70.. both really kick ass lenses.

GD!! now I am considering that Tamron lens. I just take pictures of my kids and things in my house and yard for the most part. But the original lens I listed sure is balla.......but my wallet like the 419 dollar lens a whole lot

hahaha, if you're taking pictures of the kids and around the house, get a kit lens.

but if you're balla like that, don't spend the money on the canon lens...get the tamron. great lens IMO

For the price consider the 24-70 f/2.8L
