Ok, I know that everyone jokes about pin pulls being a cure-all and miracle exercise...but surely they DO benefit your deadlift (posterior chain)? correct?

I want to increase my DL #'s which are stuck in the at about 405. Other than doing more deadlifts, pin pulls are the only thing I can think of to help my numbers. For the record, I Deez Weez 405.

sorry - at the top... hence the diesel weasel comment...I don't have trouble getting the weight up to my thighs. it's all in the lockout.

Pin pulls from right below and right above the knee. Deadlifting w/ Chains. Speed deadlifts. Kneeling squats. Heavy shruggs. Picking up strongman stones.

if you're getting stuck at the top, then yes.. pinpulls for j00.. set the safety bars to where you usually get slowed down and practice pulling from there.. as the bar comes up, different parts of your back take over and get recruited.. apparently taht part of your back (the part at the top of the lift) isnt developed very well...

i know cavey does them because he can pull weight off the floor no problem, but he has a harder time locking out at the top.. i'm the opposite, getting the weight off the floor is the hardest part for me, once it's up, i get to lock out decently.. :hs:

Not necessarily. It could be he slows there because of leverages or a mechanical disadvantage.

whats the difference between RDL's and stiff-legged deadlifts? I do SDL for glutes and hams already.

ok, i see...i've been doing a comination of the 2...legs close together and knees slightly bent.

i don't have access to a GHR, and will start doing reverse hypers.

when you say pull-throughs, you mean with a sled, right?:o

My lockout is my weak area as well so I've been pounding that area lately with pin pulls, pulls against bands, etc etc. Whats funny is that now my pin pull max is pretty close to my DL max. (625 vs 605)

My low end kicks all kinds of ass though, I can blast weight off the floor but once it gets to my knees it takes a huge shit.

just do speed work. id work with 60-70% 1RM for singles, to acclimate to a heavy load representative of a max weight, and to make sure my form doesnt fuck up when i do max.
