So my comic collection is pretty spectacular. At this point I have enough relics and random issues that I could probably get a few grand out of this collection pretty easily. However, I have another passion, that is cars. I have been saving up for an MR2 Spyder for 2 and a half years now and can almost get one. However, I just got offered a STEAL for an MR2 Spyder and I know that the amount I can sell my comics for, I could easily afford the Spyder + some.

I don't think I could tell you guys how much I want this Spyder. But at the same time I love my comic books. What should I do? Should I sell the comics for the Spyder? Should I just keep the comics and forget about this spectacular deal? Mind you this is the car I have been wanting since it came out. I do a lot of amateur racing and it wouldn't be wasted. (SCCA, Time attacks, etc.) Fuck, I don't know what to do, help me out.

That's probably the best idea if you really want the car.

I'd also think about why you want your comics. Would you save them because it's an investment, or because you really liked the stories?

Since its investment it really depends on what comics you have. If their popularity has peaked it's probably best to sell now. Otherwise you'd have to wait more to let them increase in value. Of course a decrease is also possible.

Could the car be considered an investment?

I'm not trying to say I'm right and others are wrong, but I only see one correct course of action.

What would bring the most joy to you? Ultimately, if you don't know the answer to this question, you're going to be shooting in the dark as to what decision will be the correct one.

Will that car make you more happy, or will having your ungodly sized collection of cool comics come out on top?

For what it's worth, I've had my truck for 5 years now. I've built the engine, redid the paint, added some body modifications, and bought an S-Trim Supercharger for it, so I know the predicament you're in. That truck would be my absolute last personal posession to go (barring clothes, etc).

To me, the books are just not worth it compared to something like a hotrod.

I've built 3 cars already and I have wanted an MR2 Spyder for the longest damned time for being the perfect everything car for me. With my plans, it'll cost me very little to get a 13 second car that can ALMOST compete with a Lotus Elise handling-wise, get 30-35mpg, and be as reliable as an OEM car and still look fucking awesome.

With some of my books, they haven't peeked yet. My Wolverine #1 for example is in mint condition (white pages) and I'm waiting for the movie to come out before I sell it. Some of them have peeked, but with future movies could up in popularity, my giant-sized #1 X-men for example probaly just went up with the death of David Cockrum. Sooo tough. :(

You still gotta answer those questions, though.

And no I don't think a car is a good investment; most of the time you don't get back a fraction of what you put into them.
