I just bought the CAnon Xti, and I previously had CAnon S80 P&S. When I leave the sutter open on the S80 the pictures come out very clear and when I use the Xti it comes out yellow. I tried the coffe filter, 18% grey card and nuttin seems to help any ideas? The Fist pic is from the S80 and the 2nd is from the rebel

In situations I just manually set it via the kelvin temperature setting (does the XTi have that?)

That street lamp is probably nearly as orange as the pictures indicate. Your eyes do a great job on WB... all cameras... not so much.

    shoot raw

if you're using a grey card, are you sure you set it properly? I remember when I first started doing it, I would set the image but forget to change the white balance setting to custom. lol

im assuming the reason in color differences is because the XTi has a much more precise sensor that picks the color better vs. a point and shoot.
