    Sweet fuck
Jorge Gurgel is having a seminar at my (his) gym here... 6 hours for $150. He's a black belt and the best BJJ practitioner to step foot into the gym, but man... $150? How can people rationalize that?
To me that's reasonable if there were only 5-10 people there, but that's not the case at all

A lot of people seem to go to seminars to meet a semi-famous person. Plus you have to pay extra for him to travel to nova scotia

Man, that sucks. I guess they just hook us up here in kc. I've went to seminars with Dustin Denes, Renato Tavares and Leonardo Pecanha(BJJ world Champ, for reference he beat Nasal Optamix's trainer before) and all are INCREDIBLE BJJ BB's and I've never been charged more than $60 for a whole day.

I know it's his job, but I figured he was getting a cut of what the school was bringing in on a day to day basis. It's got his name on the sign, after all. I thought he'd come make an appearance once in a while without needing to charge so much
    Wishful thinking I guess

From my experience, which isn't that much, from working at a martial arts school that brings in people, and working in other industries that bring in people to do seminars, it's usually the gyms that front the travel, their stay, and give them a set amount for their time no matter how many people show up. Whatever they get is a loss/profit for the gym.
