    rebuilt title, front bumper is banged up, right rear fender banged up, tranny slips from 2nd-3rd, door lock needs replacing :sad2:

    Ouch. The transmission problem is a bad sign. I'm guessing that's the reason you're not trying for at least 6k.

    I bought my 1999 Passat for $8500 cash in June 2005, as a point of reference. As I discovered later, there was plenty of little shit that needed replacing. Like the timing belt. :rolleyes:

    yeah, well i would just trade it in, but since its rebuilt, its not worth much to the dealer. the main reason im not trying for closer to 6k is because of the body work and high mileage, the tranny isn't really a concern at least for me. it's never slipped severely and i babied it and never gave me trouble

    saw that thread actually. but i'm barely going to afford the rabbit. i just need something new, because i'm tired of beaters. plus, i need to finance it to boost my creidt. plus i like them :)

    it's good that you like them because i was going to argue that there are better cars for the (relative) money.


    have you priced one out yet?

    out the door, with the 16" alloys is just over $18k

    struggling to sell the jetta before it comes in :sad2:

    holy shit. 18k gets you a lot of car elsewhere. (sportier and more reliable and probably more efficient as well. :hs:)

    sold the jetta yesterday, went down to the dealer and filled out all the paperwork. i can't wait :coold:
