A&P Selling my camera stuff

Discussion in 'Lifestyle' started by coughlin's law, Jun 5, 2009.

  1. Just recently I've decided to dump photography... it hasn't gotten me anywhere and the thought of putting money into it is rather unsettling... I have a Rebel XT, Sigma 10-20 and a 50mm/f1.8

After working at a camera store, you can't believe the amount of people that buy DSLRs... and you start to think if it's really for you... most of these people buy them just to get "better sports photos" or "better kid photos" but most of them won't look past Automatic mode...

I'm just getting fed up with this, Portrait and Wedding photographers are a dime a dozen, so what's the use in trying to be like one of them? My city has no market for anything other.... :sadwavey:

Although I get to play with any camera at my job, it kind of feels that void...

Ah don't give it up completely just because "everyone else does it". Those other people will never take photos of what matters to you the most: family, hobbies, etc. IMO it's worth it to keep your camera if only to take quality photos of the things you love in your life.

IMHO, its very unsettling that, what other people do would sway you from doing something you enjoy. Who cares what they do man, enjoy the fun of photography. If you dont have fun/enjoy shooting than whats the point. I have read your posts it seems you like photography alot, so why quit cold turkey just because every soccer mom in the US has a SLR?

So ... you were in it for money and fame? It's good you're quitting then. Godspeed.

How about just doing it because you love it. :hsughno: I can't take a photo to save my life, but I love learning about it.

Sigma should get about $375. Good luck.

You went in to it for the wroooong reason. Good luck, but if you pick up another hobby to make it big, you'll probably quit that too. Pick something you like :wavey:
