How many of you have an actual 'business'?

Sold some stuff I shot here a couple days ago and have some orders for prints. So when does it become a business. :noes:

    Or cash only :iorun:

Do you mind me asking what exactly you sold?

A CD with images from a racing event. 85 images...

I understand 99% of you would never sell images (atleast ones that aren't downsized and watermarked to hell) but with the images I sold I didn't mind 'losing the rights' to them. We've already been over that.

Was the price right? For him? yeah. For me? It's a start. Like I say, I'm not overly worried about him turning around and publishing anything from the CD. If he does, then good for him and good for me. 2 weeks ago I never would have guessed I'd be selling anything this soon...

It wasn't a lot of money by any means - just curious where you guys define the line is between 'a little extra cash' and a 'business'

extra little cash is a hobby.

supporting yourself from shooting is a business.

I wouldnt mind knowing how much you sold the CD for, and which car/customer you are selling them too....kind of gives me an idea of who is wanting images like these..

:noes: are you stalking me? (how'd you find that?)

Everything I sold was of 2 of those cars. The 85 pictures came from shooting 5fps through burnouts and launches.

Yeah, I don't suspect I'd make more than that (atleast average over the year) and subtract gas to/from events and entry fees, it'll eventually chip away at the equipment debt.

  10. I'm not going to discuss how much I make from my shooting, but until I can quit my fulltime jobs and live off of my camera... it'll still be side money.

I wouldnt worry about it being a "business" for at least 3-5 years of shooting, even that isn't very much time IMO. :dunno:
