What is the deal with me selling my SAIGA AK with pistol grip and 2 high cap 30 rounders to a californian? Is it legal?

Send the pistol grip separately and don't include the mags.

    no

the saiga has to be from Russian america armory, must have the pistol grip removed or have a nondetachable magazine, and those magazines are illegal unless they were here before the ban.

    1a. Attach maglock with a 10rd magazine
1b.(or) Remove pistol grip and flash hider
    2. Take apart 30rd magazines to be used as rebuild kits, or have them limited to 10 rounds before transfer.

Illegal regardless of pre/post ban status. You can merely own preban magazines. Buying or aquiring any hi-capacity magazine after the ban is illegal.

So could I just sell him the rifle without the pistol grip? It doesn't have a flash hider.

ya you can. as long as there isn't a pistol grip on the rifle and you dont ship the magazines unless they are disassembled or capped to 10 rounds. But make sure the rifle was imported by russian america armory or RAA.

You must be making a pretty damn good profit to go through the hassle of selling a magazine fed shotgun to someone in CA.

If I remember correctly, magazine fed shotguns are considered assault weapons in CA. It does not matter if the pistol grip is removed. Either it needs to be shipped to an FFL that possesses an assault weapon permit or a fixed magazine device must be installed before being shipped in to the state. I'll go look up the code.

Edit: Magazine fed semi-auto shotguns are considered assault weapons. Mag fed pump shotguns are fine. Crazy laws.

Edit 2: Oops! Read your posts wrong. I saw you mention Saiga-12 and jumped on that. :mamoru: A Saiga AK rifle is fine. Just remove the pistol grip as others have already pointed out. The magazines are iffy. I know some online vendors are willing to dissassemble new mags and sell them as repair kits.

Didn't CA change something this year where dealers wanting to ship to the state have to be approved by the state first or something like that? Does that apply to shipments from individuals?

    This isn't the shotgun, it's a 7.62x39/.308/.223 AK.

is the rifle on a ban list? if so, can't sell it.

if its not banned by name, just make sure it satisfies SB23 (read post).

still have questions: do a search on calguns.net

This would be my choice, to much of a hassle to look up stuff for states that ban shit by name. I wouldn't bother selling to anyone in Ca, Ct, Ma or jersey.

For anyone who was around durring the AWB states that mirror it aren't hard to figure out. States that I can't sell my preban norinco to but can sell a wasr2 to are difficult to figure out.
