Well I would like to invest more money into photography, but I am still on the verge of what I want to do. Do I want to stay nikon? or switch over to the dark side. I have all Nikon gear now and don't want to upgrade just yet because of this lack of decision(and I am in a different country).

    My conclusion:
    -I am in Brasil
-Brasil has very high tariff taxes
-They have a website just like e-bay on which I can sell all my gear.
-The dollar has dropped significantly (which means when I convert back I will get more "dollars" then I ever would have in history)
-My stuff is worth more "used", here. Then it is "new" in the U.S
    -SELL all gear
    -???????
    -Profit (literally)

I would also sell my mac book which I can get about 2 grand for.

    Thoughts?

    Example

    I have about 13K clicks
currently the conversion is 1.79 reais for every dollar.

**Note google translate converted the Reais symbol, it is not in pounds its ~$R3000, not pounds.

I am not going to sell it now, I am going to sell it before i come back, at the end of the year. I will sell it right before x-mas. My girlfriend is coming to visit me so I told her to buy some iphones, we are going to make mad bank!

Iphones sell for like 800USD down here. I figure as long as she just brings 3-4 she should be fine.

:dunno: I don't think I have anything to lose. Once I get back to the states I can then decided what I want to do with my newly liquidated assets. aka CASH!

Yeah, it's true! You can make money just like this.
Prices here in Brazil are high, in some cases, very high.
"Mercado Livre" is a worse version of ebay, be careful. If you need help selling your gear, I will help you, don't worry!

Just for example, you can find a D90 (kit) on "our ebay" for $1800 (dollars), we do not really have a big retailer like B&H here but, people buys from B&H too, they ship abroad :)

Talking about the iPhones, you have to see if they're unlocked. We have no A&T in Brazil :p
Btw, post your gear or e-mail to me :)

I am pretty sure I will. I am really excited about my macbook, they don't sell apple down here so it is worth bank (like the iphone) I should get about double the value. For my camera gear, I will be happy if I get it for what it is listed for brand new, so basically it will be like I had free photog gear for the past year and a half.

Yeah, I think so, as long as you speak Portuguese. You are better off selling them to friends of friends, network selling sells the best. Also, it is illegal to bring stuff down here and not "declare it" and when you declare it they tax you a ton, so you have to be wary and only bring a couple, its better to diversify, one Laptop, one iphone, one camera, one psp, one xbox, =profit plus free trip.

New D300 on mercado livre R$ 5.799 but, in some forums you can see used ones starting at R$ 3500.
SB600 is around R$ 749, on mercado livre. I'll look for the lenses tomorrow, what's the model of your MB?

Just if you sell in the right place

The tax is about 60% of the value. You know, some things worths, some things doesnt. If you buy a iphone it must be carrier unlocked.
How much is a unlocked iphone 3gs, there?
