When selling a rifle, do I need any paperwork? Do I have to go through an FFL to sell it locally? I'm thinking of selling my Saiga AK 47, mags, and ammo to build an AR.

Laws differ from state to state. If you're selling it person to person you do not need to go to an FFL in the state of MI. Just basically have to check their ID and make sure they are 18.

If it's an "assault rifle" or handgun, even private sale, apparently they need a permit. Plus they need to be 21. From what I saw, but I'd look closer I don't wanna waste my time on MI laws

Is the seller liable for the buyer not having a permit, or is it the buyer's responsibility?

Maybe I'll ask my criminal justice professor tonight if he knows the MI laws (former police chief).

Wow... MI has some screwed up gun laws.

Looks like rifle/shotguns are good to go with a face to face transaction, but buying a handgun is a pain in the ass.

    :ugh2:

And pellet/bb guns are considered firearms by Michigan law and subject to all firearms laws :eek4:
