    you need to ship it to a FFL in Utah. have him get you ffl info, call ffl, ask him what to do

    Unless you're going to meet him in person. Then just drive and swap cash for gun.

    it doesn't matter that he's your friend. if your state of residence is different from HIS state of residence, you need an FFL.

    And in some states you need it even if you're both in the same state. But, since you're in idaho and he's in utah, yes...you have to go through an FFL.
