I'm heading to a local gun show tomorrow to unload one of my handguns. Assuming I were to sell it to another individual, other than a dealer, does anyone know what laws would apply here in Texas?

Do I have to process the transaction through an FFL to be legal?

Nope, just sell it. I always ask to see their drivers license to make sure they are a TX resident and that they are old enough, but other than that there is nothing special you have to do.

Really you don't have any liability in a private sale unless you know that the person is one. I just try to use common sense, if a person seems suspicious or is acting funny I won't sell to them

You can't really determine if he is one or not.

You aren't under any responsibility to make that determination. He/She is under the obligation not to purchase one.

It is easier to privately sell a gun then a car. It's shocking, but true

True checking the DL is the most important thing with all the AFT running around waiting to bust people
