I just got an interesting phone call about a paintball clothing business I used to run about a year and a half ago.
Anyway someone is interested in buying the name, domain name, rights, etc. I don't have a lot of experience with this sort of thing, and was hoping you guys would have some comments on what I should be asking for and what I should be looking for as far as a price.

*removed the domain name so the thread wouldn't be considered a plug. :dunno:

I thought businesses normally got sold for like 4 years of profit, such that it took the new owner 4 years to break even.

i could have sworn that's what we talked about in business class in university but i could be wrong. it was 5 years ago. it was for established businesses, not new businesses.

maybe it was an average figure or something. i can look thru my old textbooks if you want :dunno:

maybe when its some sort of physical store perhaps?

i think websites work a little differently. i've heard different things when it comes to pricing a website. Examples would be what is the potential of the website (example:youtube), whats the revenue, whats the traffic, hosting costs...etc.

i could be wrong, im still learning this stuff myself

Alright the domain name is: sundaysoldiers.com. Its an apparel site for clothing with 'paintball' themes. Anyway it was pretty popular for awhile in Houston, and when I moved away to San Diego I sold the rest of my product, and its been sitting there ever since. Anyway a guy in Houston wants to buy the brand and I have no idea how to evaluate how much its worth. I still haven't decided if I'm going to start it up again sometime down the road as well.

I think you're right. When I was in that class, e-commerce was just beginning to get popular.
