Looking to down grade for the time being. With gas being so hi, and me moving I am thinking about selling my truck off and getting a v6 4x4 sr5 4runner.

    Thoughts?

Are the 4 runners reliable? good for some weekend wheeling?

    and bad idea either way.

the 4runner is still an SUV and is still a gas hog. you really wouldnt be saving any gas at all going form a pickup to an SUV.

if you're looking at a 4runner, then you're better off with a 2005+ Xterra. Better engine, and cheaper.

well then buying another vehicle right now is definitely a bad idea, since youre planning on buying another vehicle soon anyway. and you wont save any gas going from a pickup to an SUV.

unless you want to sell your pickup because youre having problems with it or something :dunno:

besides, dodge ram pickup > toyota 4runner anyday

i'd just start saving up for that cummins

Its not going to save that much gas and the damn things are expensive as fuck. Like someone else said, just save for the cummins.

What year are you thinking? It's obviously a way better wheeling vehicle than a full size P/U and will hold it's value really well in the interim while you save for something else. I had a 3rd Gen. 4Runner that was incredibly reliable and very capeable. It got around 20mpg AVG city/hwy mixed, 17-18mpg city, and like 23 on the hwy with oversized tires and a small lift.

 you're lying, dude. I had a 2004 Tacoma quad cab prerunner.... A compact/midsize V6 truck/suv is going to do the same gas mileage as a half-ton v8.

the money you spend in buying another vehicle will offset any savings at the pump. that being said: everyone is right is saying that you arn't going to save much if any gas with an SUV like the 4runner.

I would think that the MPG difference would need to be higher than 3-4mpg for it to be worth it. (also depends on how much you drive a day).
