I love the photo but I have to question why you have essentially three key lights? Two umbrellas plus a ring light? Looks like overkill.

Sorta, its adds some extra highlights, i wanted to play with. Its a lighting setup i plan on using on a upcoming shoot, the guy has alot of tattoos and i think the accent lights will help in making them pop.

its a weird kind of mottled seamless, i dunno why but this roll is somewhat textured.

People wanted to see what it looked like Straight out of camera. so here you go .

Some people say i went overboard with the lighting, but it was necessary for the type of look i wanted. Sorta like a commercial playing off the highlights look. Sorta taking the elements i like from Greenberg, Hill, and Grimes, and trying to make my own style from it.

Nice but that bright spot on the back of your neck is really annoying.

Oh and way to show off, gear whore.

    shiiiiieeeeet....

If i wanted to show off i would have busted out the additional x1600 and x3200, strip boxes and octabank, PLM, softbox and the 10 lightstands... :wavey:

Yeah sucks about that rectangle, i think im gonna fix it, at first it wasnt bothering me, then the more i look at it, it pisses me off.

    thanks,

this look could possibly be achieved in post, but wouldnt look right. Sorta like the people trying to recreate the DH look by adding topaz. All the photographers i mentioned really play up highlights, and that was my goal. I think next time, im gonna move in the umbrellas a lil close and more of an angle and maybe higher up to get more accent on the cheeks.

Needs more lights! J/K, looks good. Probably could be achieved in post, but why do it there when you can do it in camera.

I was always taught do it right in camera, and finish in post. Plus i beleive the final product will look better.

Plus setup and shooting took maybe an hour. In post i would be at it for awhile, dodging burning, drawing accents, etc.

it's amazing how much is involved just to get what appears to be such a simple photo.

    Youve got 7 lights.

You forgot to count the garage door motor.
