WTF causes this and is it proof that I am having an intense workout or proof that I need to slow down and breathe more?

    :o

Got this the other day after doing deads and then going right to heavy db shrugs.

getting lightheaded? You holding your breath like crazy? You have back issue so is there anything back there related to nerve damage? could it be all the blood rushing to your back/legs/post. chain/etc causing this.

Usually, it was a result of not breathing correctly.

Are you lifting heavier than usual lately?

caused by change in pressue of the vitreous gel in the eye

doesn't necessarily mean you're working harder - just that you're moving up and down

Miyagi: First, wash all car. Then wax. Wax on...
Daniel: Hey, why do I have to...?
Miyagi: Ah ah! Remember deal! No questions!
    Daniel: Yeah, but...
    Miyagi: Hai!
[makes circular gestures with each hand]
Miyagi: Wax on, right hand. Wax off, left hand. Wax on, wax off. Breathe in through nose, out the mouth. Wax on, wax off. Don't forget to breathe, very important.
[walks away, still making circular motions with hands]
Miyagi: Wax on, wax off. Wax on, wax off.

whats the correct breathing for heavy deads? after a heavy set sometimes i have to sit down cause i feel like im gonna pass out

exhale throughout the "lifting" part, inhale at top + on the way down?

One of my friend added this buddy I knew during college. Now he's a huge HK star driving Farraris & Lambos and getting photo shoots with Esquire on top of bunch of movies he's stared in.

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!

It's been happening to me on heavy deadlifts since high school. When you don't breath and just push the weight the pressure builds up in your head causing them I believe.

I get it when I sneeze really hard or blow my nose hard as well.

I always get it doing GHR. I always thought it was the motion of the exercise that was the cause of it.

it's probably a mixture of all of this. Blood Pressure, Breathing, getting up too fast, and the motion of the lift. Get the breathing down before anything though. I'm sure you will notice a difference

i used to get them every so often, opthamologist did some tests, i have (had?) relatively high intraocular pressure. in basic terms 'high eye pressure' and i noticed that it happened to me a couple times when i was lifting i forgot to breathe.

from what the doc told me it was that combined with the increased pressure of lifting that caused them, pushing a little on the optic nerve.

now i make sure to breathe correctly, sometimes i exaggerate my breathing just to ensure it doesn't happen
