You can't open carry loaded in CA? Can you keep rounds/mags on your person? I understand the purpose behind a rally, but in everyday carry what good is an unloaded gun?

the only way to legally open carry in CA without a CCW is if the gun is unloaded.

no shit. i have no problems with people who want to OC (even in CA), but carrying an exposed firearm that is unloaded is completely fucking stupid (and irresponsible IMO)

I would OC here and keep a loaded mag in my pocket, but the school zone issue just makes me say fuck it. I live within 1000 feet of a school too. PITA

From what I remember, your weapon has to be unloaded, but you can carry loaded mags on your person, right next to the unloaded weapon even.

You can carry open and loaded in unincorporated areas, which is to say where the majority of CA's population does not live.

Stupid California has better open carry than we do up here. I can open carry without a CCW, but I can't have any ammo on me, which kinda makes carrying pointless.

Unless the gf is with me, then I keep a mag in her purse.

    I'm sorry, but that's incorrect.
You can legally open carry a loaded firearm in Oregon.

I know you can if you have a CCW, and I know that you can without under certain circumstances, but I was under the impression that it was a nono under most circumstances.

Laws don't say what you CAN do, they say what you CAN'T do :)

Here are Oregon's firearms related laws:
    http://www.leg.state.or.us/ors/166.html

You may be thinking about Portland, Salem, and a few other cities ordinances. Before ORS 166.170 was passed, the previously mentioned cities banned open carry. Since the city ordinances were in place, ORS 166.170 didn't override them. A CHL does override the city ordinances, but if you have one, there isn't much point in OCing.
