Hey guys, my bro (Drag On) and I went to a local event last night here in St Paul MN and it was great! We were ringside sitting with some local fighters which included Sherk, Brock Larson, and some others. Has anyone else met Sherk before, because I will tell you this the camera does not make him look bigger on TV haha, this guy is massive. He said he is going to be fighting at UFC 59 but didn't know who it was going to be against yet.
Anyhow, what do you guys think of Sherk? I was drunk and made the mistake of bringing up the GSP fight lol, that portion of the conversation didn't go to long. Do you all think he is still a dominate fighter or is he falling out of his game, he is 31 yrs old as well. Just curious for peoples thoughts, after meeting him I thought it would be fun to discuss him.

I'd like to see him in the 155 lb division when they bring it back. I think with his wrestling in the LW division he might be unstoppable.

He's a boring fighter, which is why he hasnt been in the UFC much - even with a 29-2 record.

How is someone a boring fighter? No flying knees to someone's head, is that why? I am just curious to hear why.

Well, Sherk is basically just a wrestler that can throw some punches IMO. He has no style. Compared with someone like GSP, he's just not that interesting to watch. You know what he's gonna do, and you can see it all coming a mile away.

Oh, I don't deny that his method wasn't successful, he has a very impressive record. However, the fights themselves weren't as fun for the viewers to watch.

Your right, someone who has finished 21 if 33 opponets he has faced is boring.

and as far as decisions go, he has had at 8 decisons, 5 of them previous to that date back past 2001. So he's only had 3 since 2001. And of course if you forgot, he is the only man EVER to take matt hughes the distance in a title fight.

lots of wrestlers/grapplers just make the pace of the fight VERY slow

arona, lindland, tito, couture (to a good degree), etc etc.

not a bad thing, but not exciting relative to most other fights. it's not a matter of HOW they finish, but how they get to that finish

 so no matter what, as long as the fighter wins - he is exciting to watch? that makes no sense. You must think Matt Lindland is the best thing since Wanderlei Silva
