I can get pics later but basically i was going 80 on the turnpike when a big tin can or like paint can fell off from somewhere...i swerved and it clipped my right hand bumper. I have a black car and so I used meguiars scratch X to buff off the discoloring...now the car looks okay but the scuffs are still there. I dont think it went through the paint, just scuffed the top layer can i used DACP by hand to remove or do I need to bring it to someone with a rotary?

Can you catch the scuffs with a fingernail? If so, the best you will get is with a rotary.

If not, DACP should take them out.

I can slightly very very slightly catch the scuffs with a fingernail.

You may be able to get them out, but don't hold your breath. Don't do any major paint correction without a paint thickness guage unless you are very experienced. Clearcoats are only 1.5-2.0 mils thick and you cannot correct the clear to less than 1.0 mil without comprimising the clearcoat's UV protection.

Scott, didnt follow you...I was thinking of using DACP and then SFP and if that didnt work then go to a proffesional detailer......would that process be okay?
