I have a cinema display hooked up to a mac pro.

The screen goes completely black after 1 minute of no use. The only time it stays on is if a video is playing in full screen or if my eyeTV is on.

I have obviously checked my energy settings, screen saver, rebooted, repaired permissions, etc etc.

I searched around and a lot of people seem to be having this problem. Anyone know what may fix it?

Its annoying when I'm trying to leave my HW on the screen and write down the answers on paper to have to move my mouse every time I want to reference the PDF. Also its a pain for reading web articles.. halp!

Thanks, but I shouldn't have to run 3rd party software for my computer to work like it should :hs:

    Any real fixes? :dunno:

There was a bug in Tiger were even if you changed the system prefs for display settings they'd often get reset when you restart your computer. And it seems like Leopard has a similar bug where changing the display settings doesn't always work.

I'd rather press one button on my menu bar rather than change the system prefs constantly.

I'd try maybe resetting the PRAM. That's always my first action. Then the others, you did. If it still happens, Genius Bar should take care of it

But if it comes down to it, would you rather your screen turn off after a minute, or take it there to get fixed? Have you tried connecting a separate display up to it to make sure it's not that?

I've got 2 displays and it does it on both. I tried resetting pram and smc and I'm going to let it sit for a minute now and see what happens.

I'm not trying to troll here or start a war between mac vs. pc. But for all the shit Vista gets about being a bad OS, I've certainly heard a lot of weird OSX problems popping up in the shack this week. Some real weird ones too.

try unplugging everything the macpro, wait about an hour an replug everything back in.

also, did you recently install anything other then 10.5.3?

what resolution is the screen displaying?
