Scottwax did you ever have to go to a school or college or anything to do what you do? How did you learn so much about it? What is your estimated salary you think?

I am self taught. I was always anal about my own cars, especially when I had my Chevelle and just refined my technique over the years. If you want a good crash course in detailing, go to www.autopia.org and download the e-book. First 8 chapters are free and I think the whole thing is about $15 or so. Definitely worth the investment.

I average in the neighborhood of $25-40 an hour, depending on what I am doing. Towards the lower end for straight wash jobs and the higher end for details, buffing, claying, etc. Depeding on the weather, I make on average anywhere from $500 a week if there is a lot of rain to $1500 a week when the weather is real nice-especially the month or two leading up to Christmas.
