the first bit is instructional, sort of, for those in california and other states with 10 round restrictions. i did all of these yesterday.

magpul pmags in 30 or 20 round capacity...

insert plastic block that fits with the spring
    [IMG]

    get 5/64in roll pins ( i couldn't find any 1/16th in pins)
drill hole right near the m to avoid the spring within

hammer it home, and you're done.

i imagine if i ever needed to clean it, i can insert the pin even further.. not that i ever would ofcourse.

i think this is better than using chemicals and glue :big grin:

how close / far are you supposed to mount the acog?

the eye relief is only 1.5 inch or something... but the flip up sights are there so

unless i take it off, i have to get up in that shit

the scopes should hold their calibration if you mount and unmount it, as long as they stay in their rings, right?

Have ~40 pmags and a bunch of GI mags. keep about 10 pmags loaded.

can't tell you about the acog, but I THINK that it's pretty limited with the rear BUIS. I could (and probably will be) be corrected though

That ammo (308 stuff) will likely suck if you are hoping to try your hand at LR work.

the 700 i'm picking up today has a nikon scope with leupold rings.

i was planning on putting on the 5-20x and keeping the rings....

    should i get the larue?

    is it that much better?

    one piece or two piece?

i got a larue ring for the 1-4x

    i got it from calguns...

i got just enough, but if you want me to send you one as a template, i will, and you can send it back to me

    :dunno:

    some sort of, yes.

i'm thinking that the ar15 would pair well with the acog, since it has the bullet drop compensator out to a few hundred meters (like i can shoot that well lol :o)

there is a ta31f that has a fiberoptic light that illuminates for daytime, but i'm not sure if that's worth it, since both have tritium for night time..
the backup iron sights on the acog means i can unmount the flip up iron sights, right?

as for the ar22, i wasn't that happy with the aimpoint at 100 yds because there is no zoom and the red dot covered a lot of area at that distance.

the 1-4x would be good for that?

Saddest brag thread ever with 10 round mags. :mamoru:

    As to SoonDubu's questions

    1. Mount the ACOG rearward. Note how Larue has two mounts available depending on your eye relief preferences. Marines where being forced to use ACOGs with A2 stocks, so ML made a mount specifically for that situation. I used the standard ACOG mount with a Troy BUIS. The Magpul MBUS works under the standard mount too IIRC.

    2. As for loaded magazines, I keep all 40 or so of my mags loaded. PMAGS, Lancers, and a few USGIs. I don't want to bother with loading mags on the range during competition/class, and use is what kills spring tension.

Keeping them loaded won't hurt anything, and makes my life more convenient. Magazines are use items anyway: you gotta replace em eventually. I've abused my mags, flinging them half loaded onto concrete during rifle league runs, and haven't broken a Lancer/PMAG yet despite my best efforts.

    :wtc:

criminals care about their magazine capacity

thanks for your input regarding the buis....

should i keep them even though the acog has one built in?

Yeah why not. The MBUS is cheap at $62.

The TA01 BUIS is sad. Since you are rich, you should just get a mini red dot for TA01

    when they talk about MOA...

what does that mean as it applies to these?
how many movements of angle that the dot covers?

    :o

so that smilie would cover 9inches if the MOA was 9

no wonder i couldn't group my .22lr at 100 yards compared to my ot'er friend with his 3-9x crosshair scope on a ruger:rofl:

  24. Anything over 4 MOA is usually for very close range use, like on a pistol.
