Any scope recommendations? Just a range plinker / varmint gun. Want to do it for not-so-much money.

I'm hearing conflicting answers on mounts... aside from rings, do I need anything else to mount a scope?

Did the gun come with a scope mount. Any Weaver/Picatinny should be fine.

Also if you just want a plinker, that scope should be fine. I have a cheap scope, .22 scope rings on my 10/22 and it's held tight since I got it.

no. from what my research indicates, it has a 3/8" rail.

Yea, just have to get a set of tip-off rings for it.

Even though they're on the more expensive side I really like the Burris Signature series rings. They have a polymer insert so the rings never mar the scope tube.

I ended up getting a 3-9x40mm Bushnell. The guy on the counter insisted that I need the tall rings, but he was mistaken. I mounted it and it's waaaay too tall. So tomorrow I have to go exchange the rings for something shorter.

I know. Tomorrow morning I'm gonna go pickup some Leupold RF 3/8-inch Ringmount - 0.96" - Matte - 56533... I think those will be a good fit... They're 0.65" lower than what's on there now and should still allow enough room to use the iron sights, as well.
