    The Story:

Working at a highly classified U.S.- government-funded research facility somewhere in the desert of New Mexico, Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) theorized that one could travel within one’s own timeline and sought to prove this theory through something he called “Project Quantum Leap”. However, with funding for his research about to be cut, Dr. Beckett takes drastic measures to prove that his theories are correct and steps into the project’s “accelerator chamber” despite his colleagues protests that the project is not ready. After Beckett steps into the accelerator, he disappears only to reappear, to his surprise, at the head of a fighter plane which he must pilot as his theories of time travel appear to be true with the catch that Sam steps into the lives of people that have lived during his lifetime.

And so the adventures begin as Dr. Beckett “leaps” from one person’s life to another, correcting some wrong that must be righted or avoid some tragedy so that he can “leap” again in the hopes that he’ll be able to leap back to his present.

Helping him on his quest to return to the present is Al, a former Navy rear admiral and friend of Dr. Beckett. Al appears to Sam in the form of a hologram that only Sam can see and hear though children and dogs also appear to be able to see him as well. Al helps Sam figure out what Sam is supposed to do while consulting “Ziggie” a supercomputer that helps compute probable reasons as to why Sam has leaped into a particular person’s life and what he must correct or change.

    The Setting:

The setting depends on the circumstances and situation of the person Sam leaps into at the time. The leaps are nondiscriminatory as Sam has found himself into the lives of a blind man, women, and children and even a chimpanzee.
