    Just started watching this.
It used to be on every morning before school when I was a little kid.

    The Setting:
    Tokyo, Japan, Earth. Modern day.
All of the great cities of Earth risk destruction from pollution.

    The Story:
Dr. Gori is disgusted with Humanity because of its propensity for polluting its environment, and therefore has decided that he's going to conquer it and install himself as ruler. Fortunately for the Earth, the Overlords have also just arrived to oppose Dr. Gori.

    The Races:
Simians. Hailing from Planet E, located near a distant star in Orion, these creatures are super-intelligent ape-men. They are peace-loving, and very advanced.

The Overlords. Another super-advanced, super-intelligent, benevolent race. Their mission is to protect undeveloped races all over the galaxy from destroying themselves through pollution.

Humans. Normal people living in Japan.

    The Characters:
PRCS. The Pollution Research and Control Squad Sort of an EPA SWAT team:
George/Spectreman (human/cyborg) - The hero. In normal, everyday life, he is George: A mild-mannered pollution-fighter who just showed up in the PRCS office one day and tagged along. He has an uncanny sense for pending disasters. When needed, he requests transformation from the Overlords. In his Robot form he can change from man-sized to giant-sized as needed. He fires a rainbow colored Spectre-ray, and uses other weapons including a sword, shurikens, a giant shield, etc.
    [IMG] [IMG]

The Chief (human) - George's boss, and head of the department.
Rita (human) - She's cute and has a crush on George. Always defending him when he's not around, against the Superman-style "He ran away, he's never here when the action is happening!" comments from the rest of the team.

    The Aliens:
Overlord (Overlord) - The voice of Nebula 71. Spectreman's commander. It is up to him when and whether George can transform, and he often denies George's request for transformation.
Dr. Gori (Simian) - Former ruler of Planet E, exiled for his evil desires for war and conquest. He is a brilliant scientist, even by Simian standards, and uses Tokyo's pollution to create giant Godzilla-style monsters whose job is to destroy everything. Especially Spectreman. And he bears a suspicious resemblance to Mojo Jojo from the Power Puff Girls:
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Karras (Simian) - Dr. Gori's chief henchman. He has a King Kong-style obsession with Rita, and spends a lot of time roaming the streets of Tokyo trying to find Spectreman and eliminate him.

Basically, it's your typical Japanese monster story with an environmental moral, with some interesting twists, and it's responsible for my constant tardiness in 6th grade.

So, did you get a chance to watch any of the episodes on Hulu last night? If so, what did you think? And when you mentioned ebay, were you talking about buying Spectreman or Johnny Sokko on DVD? Wasn't sure which one you were referring to.

Also, if you're at all interested in watching Ultraman, you can buy the complete series on DVD for real cheap.

All 39 episodes are contained in this 4 disc package for only $6.99. I bought this at Target last year for about the same price. It's pretty cool.
