WEB School me on how to set up accepting credit card payments as well as paypal...

    Is there like a function you can call that queries the company and returns a bool as to whether or not the customer paid? How does the merchant ensure that a payment has been made? :dunno:

    I thought Paypal could accept credit cards on your behalf? They do have an API you can use that returns success/fail/etc.

    I've worked with MetaCharge/Paypoint and implemented their credit card transactions (recurring, 3DSecureand regular transactions) and their API isn't hard.

    any credit card processor has an API that sends back whether the transaction was approved or declined.

    Just run some shit on your side depending on what the API spits back.

    PayPal has the Express Web checkout...

    I have personal experience intergrating their PayFlow.

    It's most commonly done with either XML or Name/Value pairs. The merchant receives a status code back from the CC gateway (along w/ many other variables). The merchant/developer writes code to interpret the response and respond appropriately
