So I don't know how many of you guys have heard of SCCC (Students for Concealed Carry on Campus - they are huge advocates of CCW carry rights being extended to colleges) but they are doing one of their famous "empty holster" protests during the week of April 21st. Basically you wear an EMPTY holster somewhere visible on your body to promote awareness of this glaring problem in the current legal system. I figured that, since there are a pretty good amount of people in WMD crew who are still in college, this
would be a good place to raise awareness of this event.

I plan to wear an empty airsoft leg holster or something.

Here is the link, if you want to learn more about the organization, its aims, etc.

    Who's with me?

I just got the invite on Facebook; if I was still a student I'd do it.

However, if I was a student in a state that could legally carry outside of universities, I'd still probably carry on campus.

I go to a very liberal private graduate university :o don't know how this would fly.

  7. If I were still in college I would do it. I love how these bastions of liberalism do so much to make everyone feel welcome, so long as they agree with you.

I know at our school there is a a chapter of students for the second amendment and they sent out a message to all members about the protest. Of course it read the standard cover your ass stuff, this is not our event and it isn't wise to draw attention to the fact you carry a concealed weapon. The message basically said, the concept has been discussed with campus police and the administration is aware of it, so be polite and respectful the police will know what is going on if they get any complaints.

So if you really wanted to partake, I would discuss it with your campus police/security first.

Also wear a holster that is clearly visible and easily identified as empty.

Yeah there's a letter you are supposed to forward to your campus security department if you choose to partake in this event.

I go to a very liberal college in the SF Bay area, so we will see how much response this gets...

Why not just stay under the radar and carry your weapon fully concealed?

I know in Va it is perfectly legal to do so, because state law is the final word.

But you might risk getting expelled, losing grants, ECT. Risk vs rewards:hs:

I'd probably do it but I'm at my co-op right now and not on campus.

I'm wondering what kind of looks I will be getting at Austin Community College when I wear the shirt next week. They will probably ask me to leave or something. In for expulsion I guess, haha.
