Race motor... detuned(compression and timing are a bit high in race form) I don't see why it couldn't run on pump gas... Still get smoked by an LS1 :mamoru:

People have been putting some variety of the SB2 series in street driven hot rods since at least 96/97 that I'm aware of.

There was a new (at the time) Impala running around the Dallas street scene with one at that time.

There was also an Impala at that time that had an Indy Car motor in it. I *think* Norwood built the car. It made around 550rwhp which was fairly stout back then, but not for how much it cost to build the car.

Emissions controls were not around when his cars were manufactured. That's post 73.

Wirelessly posted via wap.offtopic.com (Mogul: Opera/9.51 Beta (Microsoft Windows; PPC; Opera Mobi/2723; U; en))

probably because they end up with huge ass turbos and push tons of boost. . .if they can make a big block
wind that high im sure it wouldnt be too hard making an LSx do so. just need the money to build it

is that even possible? what allows an engine to rev high like that.

This is the motor in Jimmy Johnson's 67 Camaro. Lower compression and different cam to run on pump gas. Made 720 hp at the crank.

This motor is not as peaky as most cup motors. It is a little raggged at 3000 rpm but cleans up nicely passed that and pulls really hard from 4000 to the 9500 redline....and yes that is an a/c compressor.
