when do you put your piece on you? obviously i can't do it while in the car, i need to be standing up. so do you put it on you in the work parking lot, or in the walmart parking lot before you go into walmart, or what?

Wear the holster at work then just push your gun in when you get in your car. You can do it sitting down.

Best advise is to practice by carrying around the house for several hours. I actually pack all of the time, even when I'm at home. You grow used to it, and it breaks in the leather better. What may seem comfortable for a few minutes may not always be comfy after a few hours. Find out what those are and try to alleviate them. Skin on metal is bad not only for comfort, but for your guns finish.

It also satisfies all of your "curiousity" and you dont' have to worry if you are "printing" or not, check in the mirror doing various things. The confidence (which is key) will come with experience. Try not to "adjust" yourself in public too much and just trust you are not printing.

Learn to take it off, and put it on, so when and if you have to do it somewhere "not so convenient" like your car, you are able to do so. There were times I had to "remove" my CCW because we made last minute plans to go to a bar or something.

Most importantly take into consideration your "attire" so it's "ccw friendly". And lastly get a good belt.

You'll be cool, it won't be any time till it becomes second nature to you. :bigthumb:

Would you ever go anywhere you thought you would need a gun?

Walmart, just like anywhere else, is unable to absolutely ensure you your safety.

When it happens it's never convenient nor planned. The worst that can happen is you have to carry it, and I can live with that.

I'm a college student who lives off campus and I park off campus. I take it off and put it on coming and going from campus. To be honest I prefer it off when I am in the truck, it doesn't really bother me unless I am driving long distances like 4-5 hours, but its also a matter of my gun is under my belt inside my pants covered by my shirt, all of which is firmly held in place by my safety belt. If I were to need it in the truck I would be SOL.

Though the ease which you can slip the holster on and off in the truck depends on your clips, you gun, and your holster.

I pocket carry a P3AT, so when I go on campus I just pull it out of my pocket and throw it in the center console and lock the jeep. It just looks like i'm pulling a wallet out of my pocket. I put it back in my pocket when i get back out of the car after going to my next destination after campus.

I carry my G27 that way, but I usually wear baggy khakis/BDU's.
I can stand around with my hand in my pocket and play the "How would I kill you" game.:)

i usually carry while driving no problem. I have a 229R in an MTAC and it's not uncomfortable at all. after work i just pull my gun out of the glove compartment and holster it in the parking lot.
