It seems like they are using some of the storylines from the ultimate universe. The origin in that one was completely different from the 616(?) universe. And it seems that there were a lot of elements from the show and classic comic. It seems like if anyone that wanted to pick up a comic because they liked the movie would be turn off. I mean Herc has taken over one title, there is some red hulk running around in the other, and the son of hulk coming soon. If they are talking about killing off the Ultimate Universe then why are they continuing to use those storylines? It seems like the new Avengers will be borrowing heavily from the Ultimates. which once again has nothing to do with the main Avengers book. I like comic movies, but if they don't do any justice to the comics themselves? Maybe I'm missing the point.

there using movies as a new way to i nterpret the comics. A new way to see them using aspecs of different comics to try and forumalte something not only enjoyable to the average person but to bring aspects ofall the hulks to make all different hulk readers ultimate and 616 enjoyment when they see the movie. i agree and disagree with this idea. At the same time iron man and hulk were fun movies and its neat the idea of having a cinema marvel universe to be able to stand on its on as a series and a world. Its not neccesarily to drum up new interest in comics but take the literature from comics and make people realize that movies are for adults and so are comics. they want these movies to prove that idea. sorry if i rambled but my general ideas are in there.

i guess there is just too much continuity to have wade through to make a mainstream movie from all of the comics. It would be cool if they could make a successful movie universe that stood all on its own, but what actor or actress is willing to hamstring their career for the sake of a superhero movie? Maybe Ron Perlman? Don't get me wrong, I like the Hellboy movies and am more excited for Hellboy II than Dark Knight (just because I am less familiar with Hellboy and Mike Mignola's work, suggestions?). But Macguire is done with Spiderman, so what's Marvel going to do with that? Spiderman movies are a goldmine, but without macguire will people still buy into it? How long will Hugh Jackman be willing to play Wolverine, and Ed Norton the Hulk? but I get what you are saying.

i see norton willing to give it a while as the hulk. hugh jackman owes his success to wolverine so i see him sticking that one out. Robert downey jr's comeback was as iron man. i think there only gonna make it to the avengers movies before it ends but to have a string of amazing marvel movies that stand on their own is good enough for me.

It kind of feels like they're mixing 616 and Ultimate Universes. I like it. they've gotten the best of both right.

    I agree completely.

Plus the Ultimate universe storylines are great, they make for better movie scripts. I'd rather have that than a butchering of a 616 story.

I like the ultimate storylines much better than the mainstream. I am way excited for Captain America after seeing what they did with the un-Abonimated Blonsky in Hulk. If it plays out like the Ultimates Cap it will rock comic nerds across the universe. I guess I will just wait and see. Now if DC will start cranking out some movies I'll be set. Their universe is way more complicated though.

I don't really care as long as the storyline is good.

I've warmed up to a few DC comics lately, but the universe, oh good lord...

But they have so many more titles. Checkmate could make for an interesting movie premise. Plus we could get a superman movie where he actually fights someone. Green Lantern, Flash, Hell even Shazam as an animated movie could be a goldmine for them. I'm just saying that Marvel is pumping out like 4 related movies in the future, as well as animated releases. What is DC doing? Not much it seems.

Seriously. I lost all patience for DC after one of their last Crises. Boring stupid cosmic shit that just serves to erase a lot of the shit I liked. Same thing with ASM, but they've managed to get some entertaining stories out despite the way they got to them.

Wow, that is going to be horrible. And it will make an otherwise unremarkable character, well, even less so
